Windows 8 Enterprise is the enterprise-level version of the latest Microsoft operating system. It works best when used in an enterprise environment along with Windows Server 2012. Its enterprise-specific enhancements include simplified remote network access and management, enhanced virtualization, mobile productivity capabilities, and improved security. This 32-bit version operates on a computer with a 32-bit processor and 32-bit drivers.

This donation provides one upgrade license. Request one license for this product for each computer on which you will install it.

Editions You Can Upgrade From

Only certain editions of the Windows operating system qualify for upgrades under TechSoup Nederland's Volume Licensing agreements with Microsoft. To install this operating system, you must have a licensed installation of one of the following operating systems on the device where you are installing the upgrade:

• Windows 7 Enterprise, Professional, or Ultimate
• Windows Vista Enterprise, Business, or Ultimate
• Windows XP Professional or Tablet PC
• Windows 2000 Professional
• Windows NT Workstation 4.0
• Windows 98 SE You cannot upgrade from any Home edition of Windows. If your device doesn't meet the requirements for an upgrade product, you might be eligible for a full operating system license through Microsoft's Get Genuine Windows Agreement for Small and Medium Organizations program.

Benefits for Organizations

If you have system administration experience, you can use Windows 8 Enterprise with Windows Server 2012 to:

• Provide mobile workers with access to your organizational network without the need for VPN
• Allow employees to securely take a bootable version of their Windows 8 Enterprise desktop on a USB drive to other computers
• Enhance network performance and minimize bandwidth usage

Major Capabilities

• All Windows 8 Pro capabilities: Windows 8 Enterprise provides all the capabilities of Windows 8 Pro, including a modern interface, apps, cloud integration, enhanced security, and built-in virtualization.
• DirectAccess: Mobile workers can connect securely to your organizational network anytime they have Internet access — without the need for VPN. IT administrators using Windows Server can manage mobile computers by updating Group Policy settings and distributing software updates anytime the mobile computer has Internet connectivity.
• Windows To Go: You can create a copy of an employee's Windows 8 workspace on a USB drive. This allows employees to access a secure, bootable version of their Windows 8 Enterprise desktop on another PC regardless of that PC's operating system. The device must meet Windows 7 or Windows 8 hardware certification requirements.
• BranchCache: Your organization's PCs can cache files, websites, and other content from central servers running Windows Server 2012 so that content is not repeatedly downloaded across your network. This can minimize network traffic between branch offices and the main office.
  BitLocker drive encryption: BitLocker encrypts hard drives more quickly to protect sensitive data from being accessed by unauthorized users who come into possession of any of your organization's computers.

Installing Windows 8

Unless you are upgrading from Windows 7, this installation requires a "clean install." This means that if the computer has an existing operating system, you must remove all operating system files and applications, install the system, and reinstall the applications. For complete information, see TechSoup Nederland’s How to Upgrade to Windows 8. Windows 8 Enterprise requires significant system resources, as detailed below. It is likely that PCs currently running an operating system older than Windows Vista might not be able to run Windows 8. Important Volume Licensing Information

With Windows 8, your organization can choose between two types of volume license keys for product activation: a Key Management Service (KMS) license key or a Multiple Activation Key (MAK). A Key Management Service (KMS) key for Windows 8 is available by default on the Microsoft Volume Licensing website; that is, this is the only type of key you will see unless you request a MAK. A KMS key requires at least 25 computers on a network for activation. If your organization has fewer than 25 computers, you should request a MAK from the Volume Licensing website after receiving this product.

Obtaining This Product

Installing this product requires installation media and a license key. The license key allows you to use the installation media to install the product on as many computers as you have received licenses for.

Expect three emails:

1. When your donation request has been approved, TechSoup Nederland will send a message to your organization email address confirming the number of licenses you have requested.
2. Microsoft will send an email welcoming your organization to the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC).
3. TechSoup Nederland will send an email with information about managing your donation at the VLSC. If you are new to the VLSC, you should wait for this email before you register there.

Software Assurance Under the Software Assurance program, you have the right to install any new release of products covered in the agreement during the term of your coverage.

This donation provides a full operating system license, not an upgrade, offered through Microsoft's Get Genuine Windows Agreement for Small and Medium Organizations program. Request one license for this product for each computer on which you will install it. It is available only to correct scenarios in which an organization has an existing PC with one of the following operating systems installed on it: 

• Counterfeit, pirated, or otherwise illegal, unlicensed, or improperly licensed Windows operating system
• The standard edition of Windows 8
• Home Premium, Home Basic, or Starter editions of Windows 7 or Windows Vista
• Home or Starter editions of Windows XP
• Linux, FreeDOS, or other operating system 

Once computers have genuine Windows, users can keep their current operating system up-to-date with the latest service packs and security updates by downloading them with Windows Update. 

Windows 8 Pro is the professional edition of the latest Microsoft operating system. Compared to previous versions of Windows, it features enhanced performance, a modern interface with advanced touch support, cloud integration, greater security, and improved power efficiency. This 32-bit version operates on a computer with a 32-bit processor and 32-bit drivers. 

Benefits for Organizations 

You should consider requesting this product if you need to install the latest Windows operating system on a PC that falls under one of the licensing scenarios described above. 

Special Rules for Get Genuine Product Requests 

• Eligible organizations may place only one request ever for Get Genuine products.
• Requests for Get Genuine products may not contain any other products.
• During check-out, the Get Genuine Windows Agreement for Small and Medium Organizations must be accepted on behalf of the organization. 

Note: Since Get Genuine products are part of the Windows Desktop Operating Systems title group, an organization's request for them will reduce the number of operating system upgrade products it may request in its current two-year donation cycle. 

Software Assurance Not Included 

Get Genuine products do not include the Software Assurance benefits that come with most other Microsoft software donations. If an organization installs a Get Genuine product, that product will not have the benefit of receiving a free upgrade to a newer version of Windows when it is released in the future. However, the Get Genuine product will provide a computer with a legal base operating system upon which Windows upgrade products that include Software Assurance benefits offered through TechSoup Nederland Program can be installed. Additionally, organizations that request Get Genuine products will be able to downgrade their donation to earlier Windows OS versions at no cost through the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC). 

Installing Windows 8 

Windows 8 Pro requires significant system resources, as detailed below. It is likely that PCs currently running an operating system older than Windows Vista might not be able to run Windows 8. Windows Server 2012 is a server operating system that enables a computer to handle network roles such as print server, domain controller, web server, and file server. As a server operating system, it is also the platform for separately acquired server applications such as Exchange Server or SQL Server. The Standard Edition is designed for small-to-medium-sized organizations with physical or lightly virtualized server environments. This donation provides one Standard Edition server license. Each license allows up to two physical processors on one server and up to two virtual instances of the server software. For additional licensing information, see below.

Benefits for Organizations

If you have system administration experience, you can use Windows Server to:

• Run multiple server roles and different operating systems on a single server
• Reduce the amount of hardware needed to run server workloads
• Minimize the time it takes to set up hardware and software and reproduce test environments

Major Capabilities

• Server virtualization: Hyper-V provides tools for creating and managing a virtualized server computing environment. Hyper-V Replica can replicate a virtual machine from one location to another, without shared storage, storage arrays, or other replication technologies.
• Server management: The Server Core provides a minimal environment for running specific server roles. Those roles are then easier to maintain and manage and less exposed to attack. Administrators can manage groups of servers collectively from within a single, integrated console.
• Integrated services: Windows Server 2012 delivers a unified platform for web publishing that integrates IIS, ASP.NET, and Windows Communication Foundation and also supports SharePoint Services.
• Failover clustering: Administrators can minimize disruptions of services and applications by creating a redundant server environment with dynamic hardware partitioning.
• Application Server: This server role provides an integrated environment for deploying and running custom business applications built with Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.
• DirectAccess: This secure tunneling feature allows access to the network from any computer or device. It is faster than typical VPN connections and provides off-site access to file shares, on-premises equipment, and other resources.

Licensing

The Standard and Datacenter editions of Windows Server both use processor-based licensing, with each license allowing up to two physical processors. The two editions have identical features, but they differ in the number of virtual instances of the server software you are allowed to run. Software Assurance

Norton Internet Security protects computers from viruses, worms, Trojan horses, botnets, rootkits, spyware, and spam. It provides a firewall to prevent uninvited connections other computers. It also identifies unsafe and dangerous websites so users avoid them. The program scans all existing files and incoming and outgoing data without interrupting the user.

This donation provides a subscription for use of the product on one computer for one year. The subscription includes protection updates and new product features. The product will cease to function entirely after one year unless the subscription is renewed.

You can use Norton Internet Security to:

• Protect your organizations data from viruses, spyware, spam, and other threats
• Reduce system administration costs by keeping your computers running smoothly
• Prevent uninvited connections to computers and other devices so they cant steal information, install and launch programs, or make other dangerous changes to your organizations computers

Major Capabilities

• 24/7 threat monitoring and insight: Aggregates reports from numerous sources, including the Norton community, to identify the latest verified threats.
• SONAR: Uses behavior technology to identify likely threats that have not yet been reported.
• Organizationwide management: The cloud-based Norton Management Center allows you to fix, update, renew, and install all your organizations Norton products from a single location.
• Safe Web and Facebook: Protects users who surf the Internet or receive Facebook feeds from dangerous links, infected downloads, and unsafe websites.

Newest Version

This product description is for the version of Norton Internet Security that was released in September 2012. However, when you download your Norton product, you will receive the most recent version. As updates are released, they are installed automatically.


Retail Version

This product is identical to the version sold through the Symantec website and includes the standard support, renewal, and upgrade options available with retail products.

Windows MultiPoint Server 2012 is a shared computing operating system that allows multiple users to simultaneously share one "host" computer. Each user station provides an independent Windows desktop environment and consists of a monitor, keyboard, and mouse connected to a station hub. The station hub connects to the host computer through USB or video cables and uses the host computer's processing capabilities. This donation includes one Windows MultiPoint Server 2012 Premium Edition server license, which supports up to 20 simultaneously connected user stations.

Benefits for Organizations

You can use Windows MultiPoint Server to:

• Set up and maintain a computer lab, classroom, or other collaborative environment without server administration experience or a dedicated IT staff
• Save energy, simplify maintenance, and lower expenses by operating a shared computing environment
• Connect aging desktops, laptops, or thin clients as additional user stations by connecting them to the host computer using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) over a local area network (LAN)

Major Capabilities

Centralized administration: The MultiPoint Manager application allows administrators to set up and manage Windows MultiPoint Server user stations. Administrators can create accounts for an unlimited number of users, who can access their customized desktop and settings by logging in to any user station.

• User monitoring: The MultiPoint Dashboard application allows nonadministrators, such as classroom instructors or computer lab staff, to monitor and interact with user stations. Dashboard users can view user activity, block users, limit web access, and project their desktop activities to all users. They can also open chat sessions with users and take control of a user's desktop to provide hands-on assistance.
• System restoration: Disk Protection protects the host computer by discarding changes made during user sessions and restoring the host computer to a "last known good state" after reboot.
• Shared software: Software programs installed on the host computer can be accessed from any user station, without separately installing the software for each user. (Note that Microsoft Office and other Microsoft programs require a separate license for each user station in a Windows MultiPoint Server environment. Other software manufacturers may have their own licensing requirements for shared computing environments.)
• Desktop virtualization: Administrators can create Windows 7 or Windows 8 client virtual machines to map to MultiPoint stations. These virtual machines can run software that might not be compatible with a 64-bit server operating system.
• Active Directory support: Windows MultiPoint Server can join an Active Directory domain and also participate in Group Policy and other domain functions.

This client management licence (ML) allows one nonserver device to be managed by System Center Configuration Manager 2007. If a device has multiple operating system environments (OSEs), a separate ML is required for each OSE managed by Configuration Manager.

User MLs are also available. A user ML allows any number of nonserver OSEs to be managed by Configuration Manager as long as only one user has access to them.

Standard and enterprise server MLs are also available. A server ML is required for each server (that is, each device running a server operating system) managed by Configuration Manager. The standard ML allows for management of basic server operating system workloads, while the enterprise ML is necessary for management of server applications and other premium workloads.

All server MLs are licenced per OSE. In other words, if a server is running multiple OSEs, one ML is necessary for each OSE managed by Configuration Manager. For more information about licensing Configuration Manager, see System Center Licensing (PDF) from Microsoft.

Note: This licence does not require media. Instructions for obtaining the licence will be sent to your organisation email address after your eligibility has been verified and your administrative fee has been received.

Workgroup Server is one of two editions of Dynamics CRM 2011: CRM Workgroup Server 2011 and CRM Server 2011. Workgroup Server 2011 includes licenses for a maximum of five users to access the server from any number of computers or other devices. There are no licenses available for additional users, devices, or external users. CRM Server 2011 also supports multiple, distinct CRM databases on a single server.

Users can access and work with Dynamics CRM customer records and reports through an Outlook toolbar or by using Internet Explorer to access a customized, internal website. Reports are available with on-demand, scheduled, or event-based delivery, and can be generated by users without IT assistance.

Users can integrate contacts, emails, tasks, appointments, or OneNote notes with the appropriate customer records; track email correspondence; and schedule and automate tasks such as customer contacts. Replies to tracked emails are automatically tracked as well, allowing users to quickly see all pertinent correspondence with or about a customer. Contact can be assigned for customers personally or in groups; and can be scheduled individually, recurrently, or as triggered by other events.

Both the web and Outlook interfaces are highly customizable. Access rights and interface settings can be set at all levels and departments so that personnel can access records in an appropriate and intuitive form.

Dynamics CRM supports SQL Server Mirroring, which ensures that a backup copy of the database is consistently available in case of damaged files.

This client management license (ML) allows any number of nonserver operating system environments (OSEs) to be managed by System Center 2012 Configuration Manager and Virtual Machine Manager, as long as only one user has access to them. If more than one user has access to a certain OSE or set of OSEs, then an ML is necessary for each user.

Benefits for Organizations

If you have a dedicated IT department and staff with datacenter administration experience, your organization can use Configuration Manager and Virtual Machine Manager to manage all client desktops, thin clients, mobile devices, and virtual desktops from a unified interface.

Licensed Components

• Configuration Manager: provides software deployment, distribution, update management, and configuration monitoring throughout an IT infrastructure
• Virtual Machine Manager: enables administration and management of Microsoft and VMware virtual machine guests and virtual machine hosts

Management Server Software

With System Center 2012, the right to run management server software is included with the MLs. If you request this product, you can obtain management server software for all of the System Center components listed above. The software includes a runtime version of SQL Server Technology (SQL Server Standard Edition) to support System Center. No additional licenses are needed for management servers or SQL Server technology.

Outlook is a time and information manager that integrates email, calendar, contacts, tasks, voicemails, faxes, and RSS feeds.This donation provides one license.

You can use Outlook to:

• Share your calendar and schedule meetings with other users within your organization
• Reduce time spent searching for emails, attachments, appointments, and contacts with the search, filter, and context features
• View updates from your contacts' social media profiles within Outlook

Major Capabilities

• Centralized accounts: You can combine multiple email accounts, calendars, and address books and manage them in a single view.
• Consolidated views for conversations and calendars: These views allow you to condense and categorize multiple messages into single conversations or view multiple shared calendars from Outlook, Windows Live, or other sources in a combined horizontal display.
• Social media integration: Outlook can collect additional information about contacts from their social media profiles and connect to your social and business circles.

Some features are available only when Outlook is used with Exchange Server, which must be obtained separately.

Important Volume Licensing Information

Organizations will be provided with both types of keys on the Microsoft Volume Licensing website.For help deciding which type of key to use, Microsoft offers instructions on how to use a MAK or KMS key to activate volume editions of Office 2013.

Obtaining This Product

Installing this product requires installation media and a license key. The license key allows you to use the installation media to install the product on as many computers as you have received licenses for.

Expect three emails:
1. When your donation request has been approved, TechSoup Nederland will send a message to your organization email address confirming the number of licenses you have requested.
2. Microsoft will send an email welcoming your organization to the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC).
3. TechSoup Nederland will send an email with information about managing your donation at the VLSC. If you are new to the VLSC, you should wait for this email before you register there.

Software Assurance

Under the Software Assurance program, you have the right to install any new release of products covered in the agreement during the term of your coverage.

• Internet Explorer 8/9/10; Firefox 10 or later; Safari 5 or later; Chrome 17 or later
