Windows Server 2012 is a server operating system that enables a computer to handle network roles such as print server, domain controller, web server, and file server. As a server operating system, it is also the platform for separately acquired server applications such as Exchange Server or SQL Server. The Datacenter Edition is designed for organizations with large workloads and heavily virtualized server environments. This donation provides one Datacenter Edition server license. Each license allows up to two physical processors on one server and an unlimited number of virtual instances of the server software. For additional licensing information, see below.

Benefits for Organizations

Major Capabilities

• Server virtualization: Hyper-V provides tools for creating and managing a virtualized server computing environment. Hyper-V Replica can replicate a virtual machine from one location to another, without shared storage, providing enhanced disaster recovery and high availability.
• Server management: The Server Core provides a minimal environment for running specific server roles. These roles are then easier to maintain and manage and less exposed to attack. These roles include Active Directory and related services, DHCP, DNS, File Services, Hyper-V, Print Services, Streaming Media Services, and Web Server (IIS).
• Integrated services: Windows Server 2012 delivers a unified platform for web publishing that integrates IIS, ASP.NET, and Windows Communication Foundation and also supports SharePoint Services.
• Failover clustering: Administrators can minimize disruptions of services and applications by creating a redundant server environment with dynamic hardware partitioning.
• Application Server: This server role provides an integrated environment for deploying and running custom business applications built with Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.
• DirectAccess: This secure tunneling feature allows access to the network from any computer or device. It is faster than typical VPN connections and provides off-site access to file shares, on-premises equipment, and other resources.

Licensing

The Standard and Datacenter editions of Windows Server both use processor-based licensing, with each license allowing up to two physical processors. The two editions have identical features, but they differ in the number of virtual instances of the server software you are allowed to run. Windows 8 Pro is the professional edition of the latest Microsoft operating system. Compared to previous versions of Windows, it features enhanced performance, a modern interface with advanced touch support, cloud integration, greater security, and improved power efficiency. This 32-bit version operates on a computer with a 32-bit processor and 32-bit drivers.

This donation provides one upgrade license. Request one license for this product for each computer on which you will install it.

Editions You Can Upgrade From

Only certain editions of the Windows operating system qualify for upgrades under TechSoup Nederland's Volume Licensing agreements with Microsoft. To install this operating system, you must have a licensed installation of one of the following operating systems on the device where you are installing the upgrade:

• Windows 7 Enterprise, Professional, or Ultimate
• Windows Vista Enterprise, Business, or Ultimate
• Windows XP Professional or Tablet PC
• Windows 2000 Professional
• Windows NT Workstation 4.0
• Windows 98 SE

You cannot upgrade from any Home edition of Windows. If your device doesn't meet the requirements for an upgrade product, you might be eligible for a full operating system license through Microsoft's Get Genuine Windows Agreement for Small and Medium Organizations program.

Major Capabilities

• Modern interface: You can navigate the new tile-based interface with a touch-enabled computer or a traditional mouse-and-keyboard setup. You can also choose to view a traditional Windows desktop similar to those in previous versions of Windows.
• Apps: Apps give you quick access to applications like Mail, Calendar, SkyDrive, Photos, People, and services like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. When not in use, apps running in the background suspend automatically, so they don't consume system resources and power.
• Cloud integration: Your apps, settings, and files saved to the cloud-based Microsoft SkyDrive will automatically appear on any Windows 8 device after logging in with your Microsoft account.
• Enhanced security: Windows Defender in Windows 8 includes antivirus capabilities to protect computers from viruses, Trojan horses, rootkits, and other malware, in addition to spyware and adware. The software detects threats in real-time and automatically updates malware signatures.
• Built-in virtualization: Exclusive to 64-bit versions of Windows 8, Client Hyper-V allows users with virtualization experience to create and manage virtual machines without installing a server operating system.

Installing Windows 8

Unless you are upgrading from Windows 7, this installation requires a "clean install." This means that if the computer has an existing operating system, you must remove all operating system files and applications, install the system, and reinstall the applications. It is likely that PCs currently running an operating system older than Windows Vista might not be able to run Windows 8. Important Volume Licensing Information

With Windows 8, your organization can choose between two types of volume license keys for product activation: a Key Management Service (KMS) license key or a Multiple Activation Key (MAK). A Key Management Service (KMS) key for Windows 8 is available by default on the Microsoft Volume Licensing website; that is, this is the only type of key you will see unless you request a MAK. A KMS key requires at least 25 computers on a network for activation. If your organization has fewer than 25 computers, you should request a MAK from the Volume Licensing website after receiving this product.

• DirectAccess: Mobile workers can connect securely to your organizational network anytime they have Internet access — without the need for VPN. IT administrators using Windows Server can manage mobile computers by updating Group Policy settings and distributing software updates anytime the mobile computer has Internet connectivity.
• Windows To Go: You can create a copy of an employee's Windows 8 workspace on a USB drive. This allows employees to access a secure, bootable version of their Windows 8 Enterprise desktop on another PC regardless of that PC's operating system. The device must meet Windows 7 or Windows 8 hardware certification requirements.
• BranchCache: Your organization's PCs can cache files, websites, and other content from central servers running Windows Server 2012 so that content is not repeatedly downloaded across your network. This can minimize network traffic between branch offices and the main office.
  BitLocker drive encryption: BitLocker encrypts hard drives more quickly to protect sensitive data from being accessed by unauthorized users who come into possession of any of your organization's computers.

Norton Internet Security protects computers from viruses, worms, Trojan horses, botnets, rootkits, spyware, and spam. It provides a firewall to prevent uninvited connections other computers. It also identifies unsafe and dangerous websites so users avoid them. The program scans all existing files and incoming and outgoing data without interrupting the user.

This donation provides a subscription for use of the product on one computer for one year. The subscription includes protection updates and new product features. The product will cease to function entirely after one year unless the subscription is renewed.

Benefits for Organizations

You can use Norton Internet Security to:

• Protect your organizations data from viruses, spyware, spam, and other threats
• Reduce system administration costs by keeping your computers running smoothly
• Prevent uninvited connections to computers and other devices so they cant steal information, install and launch programs, or make other dangerous changes to your organizations computers

Major Capabilities

• 24/7 threat monitoring and insight: Aggregates reports from numerous sources, including the Norton community, to identify the latest verified threats.
• SONAR: Uses behavior technology to identify likely threats that have not yet been reported.

• Safe Web and Facebook: Protects users who surf the Internet or receive Facebook feeds from dangerous links, infected downloads, and unsafe websites.

Newest Version

This product description is for the version of Norton Internet Security that was released in September 2012. However, when you download your Norton product, you will receive the most recent version. As updates are released, they are installed automatically.


Retail Version

This product is identical to the version sold through the Symantec website and includes the standard support, renewal, and upgrade options available with retail products.

Windows MultiPoint Server 2012 is a shared computing operating system that allows multiple users to simultaneously share one "host" computer. Each user station provides an independent Windows desktop environment and consists of a monitor, keyboard, and mouse connected to a station hub. The station hub connects to the host computer through USB or video cables and uses the host computer's processing capabilities. This donation includes one Windows MultiPoint Server 2012 Standard Edition server license, which supports up to 10 simultaneously connected user stations. Organizations that require more user stations, Active Directory support, or Hyper-V support should consider Windows MultiPoint Server 2012 Premium Edition.

Benefits for Organizations

You can use Windows MultiPoint Server to:

• Set up and maintain a computer lab, classroom, or other collaborative environment without server administration experience or a dedicated IT staff
• Save energy, simplify maintenance, and lower expenses by operating a shared computing environment

Workgroup Server is one of two editions of Dynamics CRM 2011: CRM Workgroup Server 2011 and CRM Server 2011. Workgroup Server 2011 includes licenses for a maximum of five users to access the server from any number of computers or other devices. There are no licenses available for additional users, devices, or external users. CRM Server 2011 also supports multiple, distinct CRM databases on a single server.

Users can access and work with Dynamics CRM customer records and reports through an Outlook toolbar or by using Internet Explorer to access a customized, internal website. Reports are available with on-demand, scheduled, or event-based delivery, and can be generated by users without IT assistance.

Users can integrate contacts, emails, tasks, appointments, or OneNote notes with the appropriate customer records; track email correspondence; and schedule and automate tasks such as customer contacts. Replies to tracked emails are automatically tracked as well, allowing users to quickly see all pertinent correspondence with or about a customer. Contact can be assigned for customers personally or in groups; and can be scheduled individually, recurrently, or as triggered by other events.

Both the web and Outlook interfaces are highly customizable. Access rights and interface settings can be set at all levels and departments so that personnel can access records in an appropriate and intuitive form.

Dynamics CRM supports SQL Server Mirroring, which ensures that a backup copy of the database is consistently available in case of damaged files.

This client management licence (ML) allows one nonserver device to be managed by System Center Configuration Manager 2007. If a device has multiple operating system environments (OSEs), a separate ML is required for each OSE managed by Configuration Manager.

User MLs are also available. A user ML allows any number of nonserver OSEs to be managed by Configuration Manager as long as only one user has access to them.

Standard and enterprise server MLs are also available. A server ML is required for each server (that is, each device running a server operating system) managed by Configuration Manager. The standard ML allows for management of basic server operating system workloads, while the enterprise ML is necessary for management of server applications and other premium workloads.

All server MLs are licenced per OSE. In other words, if a server is running multiple OSEs, one ML is necessary for each OSE managed by Configuration Manager. For more information about licensing Configuration Manager, see System Center Licensing (PDF) from Microsoft.

Note: This licence does not require media. Instructions for obtaining the licence will be sent to your organisation email address after your eligibility has been verified and your administrative fee has been received.

This client management license (ML) allows any number of nonserver operating system environments (OSEs) to be managed by System Center 2012 Configuration Manager and Virtual Machine Manager, as long as only one user has access to them. If more than one user has access to a certain OSE or set of OSEs, then an ML is necessary for each user.

If you have a dedicated IT department and staff with datacenter administration experience, your organization can use Configuration Manager and Virtual Machine Manager to manage all client desktops, thin clients, mobile devices, and virtual desktops from a unified interface.

Licensed Components

• Virtual Machine Manager: enables administration and management of Microsoft and VMware virtual machine guests and virtual machine hosts

Management Server Software

With System Center 2012, the right to run management server software is included with the MLs. If you request this product, you can obtain management server software for all of the System Center components listed above. The software includes a runtime version of SQL Server Technology (SQL Server Standard Edition) to support System Center. No additional licenses are needed for management servers or SQL Server technology.

Management License

The ML does not require media, license keys, or setup codes.

Visio Professional 2013 is software for creating diagrams. Users choose a template, drag shapes to the drawing, connect the shapes, and add text where needed.

Visio Professional contains all features of the standard edition of Visio plus specialized tools that are better suited for more technical projects. It also allows linking diagrams to data sources and having more than one person work on a diagram at the same time.

Benefits for Organizations

You can use Visio Professional in the following ways:

• General users can create flowcharts, organization charts, office layouts, and more.
• IT professionals can plan and document existing networks, proposals for new infrastructure, and directory services.

• Developers can create entity relationship diagrams for proposed database schemas and map and troubleshoot existing Internet or intranet sites.

Major Capabilities

• Templates: Templates include shapes used for creating a particular type of diagram collected in groups called stencils. They can also include special tabs on the Ribbon and wizards to help get the diagram started.
• Themes and styles: You can add sets of colors, fonts, and effects to an entire diagram with a single mouse click. Each theme has several variants. In addition, you can also apply styles to individual shapes to make them stand out. Effects include such things as shadows and glows.
• Threaded conversations: A commenting pane allows reviewers’ comments to appear in threads.
• Coauthoring: If a diagram is stored in SharePoint or SkyDrive, several people can work on it at once. An icon appears on the diagram to show parts that someone else has changed.
• Links to dynamic data: Shapes in a diagram can display data from external sources like SQL Server or Excel spreadsheets.
• Cloud storage: The default location to save diagrams is the user's SkyDrive.

Important Volume Licensing Information

With Visio 2013, you can choose between two types of volume license keys for product activation: a Key Management Service (KMS) license key or a Multiple Activation Key (MAK). Organizations will be provided with both types of keys on the Microsoft Volume Licensing website.For help deciding which type of key to use, Microsoft offers instructions on how to use a MAK or KMS key to activate volume editions of Office 2013.

Obtaining This Product

Installing this product requires installation media and a license key. The license key allows you to use the installation media to install the product on as many computers as you have received licenses for.

Expect three emails:

1. When your donation request has been approved, TechSoup Nederland will send a message to your organization email address confirming the number of licenses you have requested.
2. Microsoft will send an email welcoming your organization to the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC).
3. TechSoup Nederland will send an email with information about managing your donation at the VLSC. If you are new to the VLSC, you should wait for this email before you register there.

Software Assurance

Under the Software Assurance program, you have the right to install any new release of products covered in the agreement during the term of your coverage.
